What does 8ppi mean for SiC ceramic foam filter?
PPI stands for Pores Per Inch!
It indicates the number of pores within one inch.
8 PPI means there are approximately 8 pores per inch.
● The lower the PPI value → the larger the pores, the higher the flow rate, and the lower the filtration precision.
● The higher the PPI value → the finer the pores, the higher the filtration precision, and the lower the flow rate.

8ppi D40X11mm SiC filters are delivered to our Thailand client today!

Silicon‑carbide ceramic foam filters are indispensable functional components for molten‑metal purification in the foundry industry.
Manufactured by high‑temperature sintering of silicon‑carbide powder, they feature a three‑dimensional interconnected open‑cell foam structure.
Common pore specifications include: 8 PPI, 10 PPI, 15 PPI and 20 PPI, meeting different filtration requirements for molten iron.
Thanks to silicon‑carbide material properties, the filter possesses excellent high‑temperature resistance, outstanding thermal‑shock resistance and stable chemical inertia when exposed to high‑temperature molten iron.
During pouring, the three‑dimensional network skeleton physically captures and adsorbs non‑metallic inclusions, slag, oxide films and fine impurities carried in molten iron.
It effectively reduces casting defects such as slag inclusions, blowholes, pinholes and sand inclusions, improving the surface quality, internal compactness and mechanical performance of iron castings.
Under normal casting conditions, the filter maintains sufficient mechanical strength. It will not soften, crack, pulverize or shed particles when hot metal flows through, preventing secondary contamination of molten metal.
A wide range of standard sizes is available. Custom‑made dimensions and shapes can be supplied according to customer‑specific gating‑system designs.
Our filters are widely used in the production of grey cast iron, ductile iron and alloy cast‑iron parts for automobile components, pump‑valve castings, engineering‑machinery accessories and general hardware castings.

The Features of Hebei CangChen SiC Filters!
✅Our high‑performance silicon‑carbide (SiC) ceramic foam filters are engineered specifically for molten‑iron purification in foundry operations.
✅Produced by high‑temperature sintering of high‑purity silicon‑carbide powder, these filters feature a robust, three‑dimensionally interconnected open‑cell network.
✅They deliver exceptional high‑temperature performance and superior thermal‑shock resistance, maintaining chemical stability in direct contact with hot molten iron.
✅During pouring, this open‑cell structure adsorbs and captures slag, oxide films and fine non‑metallic inclusions carried within the molten stream.
✅This drastically minimizes typical casting defects including blowholes, pinholes, sand inclusions and slag entrapment.
✅Surface finish, internal soundness and mechanical properties are greatly enhanced for grey‑iron, ductile‑iron and alloy‑iron castings.
✅Even under sustained erosion by hot molten metal, the filter retains its structural integrity.
✅It will not crack, spall or crumble during casting, eliminating the risk of secondary contamination of the melt.
Our SiC filters Stock!
We stock the full PPI range: 8 PPI, 10 PPI, 15 PPI and 20 PPI to suit varying foundry process requirements.
● 8 PPI / 10 PPI: Larger pores enable high‑flow throughput; well‑suited for large castings and fast‑pouring cycles.
● 15 PPI / 20 PPI: Finer pore geometry delivers tighter filtration for high‑spec, precision iron castings.
Standard dimensions are readily available. Custom shapes and sizes can be manufactured to match your gating‑system and pattern‑tool requirements.
