Why use TF COMBO BAG for molten aluminum?
TF COMBO BAG is an all-in-one fiberglass component integrating flow diversion and filtration, specially designed for molten aluminum purification.
It is fabricated from high-purity E-grade fiberglass yarn with ultra-low alkali content. The material remains chemically inert when contacting high-temperature molten aluminum. It will not melt, decompose or release ions, so no secondary impurities will contaminate the aluminum melt.
During casting, TF COMBO BAG first breaks up the high-speed turbulent aluminum flow, slows down the melt and distributes the molten aluminum evenly. This avoids violent stirring of aluminum liquid, which prevents oxide film from being entrained into the melt. At the same time, its fine fiberglass mesh captures oxide skin, refractory particles and non-metallic inclusions carried inside molten aluminum.
These impurities are the main cause of internal pores, inclusions and surface defects on aluminum slabs and ingots. By removing slag and stabilizing flow, TF COMBO BAG greatly reduces casting defects, cuts down the workload of subsequent milling and improves the final yield of aluminum slabs.
Compared with separate filter screens and shunt plates, the integrated TF COMBO BAG simplifies installation in the launder. Workers only need one piece instead of multiple separate parts, saving operating time and reducing installation errors. It maintains stable strength under high aluminum pouring temperature, without tearing or fiber shedding.

✅TF COMBO BAG is mainly used in workshops for large aluminum slab and aluminum ingot production. It is installed in the launder system of VDC vertical semi-continuous casting lines. It works right before molten aluminum enters the crystallizer.
✅The aluminum slabs produced here are primary billets, which will be rolled into large aluminum plates, aluminum sheets and aluminum coils. This product is the key consumable for large aluminum smelting and casting factories.
✅Besides large slab and ingot production, TF COMBO BAG can also be applied for high-quality aluminum billet casting.

1. Pre-inspection of TF COMBO BAG
Check the bag for damage, holes or loose stitching. Confirm the specification matches the launder size and production parameters. Do not use torn or defective bags.
2. Installation in the launder
Place the TF COMBO BAG into the designated position inside the casting launder, upstream of the crystallizer. Fix and level the bag securely to prevent shifting or floating when molten aluminum flows through. Ensure the orientation is correct for melt diversion.
3. Preheating (critical step
Preheat the TF COMBO BAG together with the launder. Gradual preheating removes moisture and prevents thermal shock. Moisture will cause hydrogen explosion and splashing once contacting molten aluminum.
4. Start aluminum pouring
Start to transfer molten aluminum into the launder. The molten aluminum first flows into the TF COMBO BAG. The bag calms turbulent flow and filters oxide skin, non-metallic inclusions and refractory debris while diverting melt evenly.
5. Continuous casting process
Maintain stable molten aluminum flow rate during the whole VDC semi-continuous casting. The TF COMBO BAG keeps working continuously to purify the aluminum melt before it enters the crystallizer to form aluminum slabs or ingots.
6. Completion and replacement
When one casting cycle finishes or the filter bag is fully loaded with slag, stop casting. Remove the used TF COMBO BAG and install a new one for the next production batch.

Brief summary: Inspect the bag → install it in launder → preheat → pour molten aluminum for filtration & diversion → finish casting and replace the bag.
