Product Overview

Our high-temperature carbonized fiberglass filter mesh is specially designed exclusively for molten aluminum & aluminum alloy filtration.

● It is woven from high-purity alkali-free fiberglass yarn via leno weave.

● Treated by high-temperature carbonization to remove most organic binders in advance.

●It delivers consistent filtration during aluminum pouring, with minimal gas emission and almost no smoke.

Application

Used in gating system of aluminum foundries for filtering molten aluminum only:

● Gravity casting, low-pressure casting, sand casting, permanent mold casting for aluminum alloys

● Automotive aluminum parts, aluminum wheels, engine housings, heat sinks, hydraulic aluminum components, aluminum ingots, and general aluminum castings.

● It traps alumina oxide films, dross, slag, sand grains and fine non-metallic inclusions before molten aluminum flows into the mold cavity, lowering scrap rate.

● Available in sheets, rolls, pre-cut discs, squares and custom cap-style filter shapes.

Core Advantages—Leno Weave

1. Super stable leno weave construction (biggest difference from plain weave)

Leno weave locks warp and weft yarns tightly together. Yarns cannot shift or slide even under strong scouring and pressure from fast-flowing molten aluminum. Mesh openings stay uniform during pouring, no mesh stretching, hole distortion or fiber shedding. It maintains full filtration integrity under high aluminum melt velocity, which plain weave mesh often fails to achieve.

2. Resist turbulence & smoother mold filling

The interlocked leno weave structure calms turbulent aluminum flow, reduces secondary oxidation and new dross formation while filtering existing impurities. Steady metal flow gives better surface finish and more consistent mechanical properties for aluminum castings.

3. Carbonized treatment: ultra-low gas evolution, smokeless pouring

Pre-carbonization eliminates most organic binders. When contacting molten aluminum, it releases nearly no smoke or irritating fumes. This drastically cuts pinholes, blisters and porosity defects — the most common quality issues in aluminum casting. No preheating required before installation.

4. High thermal stability for aluminum pouring temperature

Stable at continuous temperature up to 850°C, peak temperature up to 900°C. It does not soften or collapse under aluminum melt heat.

5. Chemically inert, no contamination to aluminum melt

Alkali-free fiberglass will not react with molten aluminum or alter alloy composition.

6. Easy aluminum scrap recycling

The mesh floats on molten aluminum during remelting and can be easily skimmed off. Sprue & runner scrap containing our filter can go directly back into the furnace, saving raw material cost.

7. Cost-effective & simple handling

Lightweight, easy to cut and place in sprue/runner. More economical than ceramic foam filters for primary filtration in aluminum casting. Custom sizes and shapes available.

Leno Weave 

Leno weave(our design) locks the warp yarns around the weft yarns with a twisted binding structure. Yarns are fixed firmly in position and cannot slip even under fast, turbulent molten aluminum flow.

Plain Weave

Plain weave fiberglass mesh is woven by simply crossing warp and weft yarns over and under each other.

● Under strong scouring and high flow velocity of molten aluminum, warp and weft threads easily slide apart. This causes mesh stretching, enlarged holes, fiber shedding, and filter collapse.

● Once the mesh shifts, dross and alumina inclusions can pass through, leading to casting defects and higher scrap rates.

● Plain weave works only for low-flow, low-pressure aluminum pouring conditions.
