High Silica Fiberglass Filter Mesh | For Molten Steel, Iron & Copper!
High silica fiberglass filter mesh is a refractory woven filter made from ≥96% SiO₂ fiberglass yarn, engineered for in-mold filtration of molten steel, cast iron and copper alloys.
It is produced in flat mesh sheets and integrated hat-style filter hats, to fit standard runner & gating systems of foundries.

1. Cast Iron (Grey Iron / Ductile Nodular Iron)
● Pouring temperature: 1400–1450°C
● Used for automotive parts, hydraulic components, pump housings, pipe fittings and engineering iron castings.
● Molten iron carries slag, sand debris and graphite oxides during pouring.
● The filter mesh traps these contaminants before liquid iron enters the mould cavity.
● It eliminates slag inclusions, pinholes and surface blemishes, improves casting density and mechanical toughness.
2. Copper & Copper Alloys (Brass, Bronze)
● Pouring temperature: 1200°C
● Applied in valve parts, bearings, bushings, electrical copper components and art copper castings.
● Copper oxidizes easily when flowing. The mesh captures copper dross and oxide films, stabilizes molten metal flow and reduces turbulence oxidation.
● Final copper castings gain smoother surface finish and fewer leak defects.
3. Steel & Alloy Steel Casting
● Pouring temperature: up to 1620°C
● Suitable for carbon steel, low alloy steel and medium-sized precision steel castings, such as machinery brackets, mining spare parts and pump steel bodies.
● Steel melt runs at extremely high temperature. Only high silica fiber can keep structural integrity without melting or softening.
● It intercepts high-temperature slag and non-metallic inclusions, lowering scrap rate for high-grade steel castings.

1. Remove harmful impurities in molten metal
The woven mesh physically blocks slag, oxide skins, sand particles and refractory debris. Fine oxide inclusions are adsorbed onto fiber surfaces. Impurities are removed before metal fills the mould. This directly cuts common defects: slag inclusion, porosity, cold shut and surface defects.
2. Reduce casting scrap & rework cost
Defective castings mean wasted raw material, energy and labour. Installing this filter greatly improves casting qualification rate and lowers your total production cost.
3. High-temperature stability for multi-metal casting
SiO₂ ≥96% fiber withstands up to 1620°C. It works reliably for steel, iron and copper, without softening, melting or fiber shedding during pouring. It also has strong thermal shock resistance and will not crack under rapid temperature change.
4. No contamination to molten metal
High silica material is chemically inert. It will not react with steel, iron or copper alloy, and will not introduce extra impurities into your castings. This is critical for high-grade alloy and precision castings.
5. Control molten metal turbulence
The hat-style filter slows down fast liquid metal flow, reduces turbulence and secondary oxidation during pouring.
6. Simple installation & flexible customization
Both flat mesh and hat filters fit standard gating systems. Custom mesh size, thickness and hat dimensions can be made according to your mould design and pouring weight.
