Dimensions (Length, Width, Thickness, Diameter): Consistently measure filter plates or blocks to ensure they match design specifications and tolerate minimal deviations.
Pore Density (PPI): Check pore count for consistency across batches-e.g., ensuring 10PPI, 20PPI, 30PPI filters meet target counts. Accurate PPI ensures expected filtration performance.
Porosity Testing: Use methods like Archimedes’ principle or density comparison to determine the ratio of pore volume to total volume. A target porosity (e.g., ≥84%) ensures optimal filtration flow and efficiency.
Light Transmittance (Porosity Proxy): Place filters on a light box with a grid overlay to assess the percentage of light passing through—higher transparency indicates fewer blind spots and more uniform pore structure.
